What was the objective?

A.I. is rapidly changing the fashion industry, and G-STAR aims to be at the forefront of this transition. As part of shaping its strategy towards A.I., G-STAR sought to involve employees in the conversation on Artificial Intelligence and its implications for people’s roles, the organization and the industry. The goal of the Civinc session was thus to create a safe space for conversations on A.I. and in the process distill the main prevailing sentiments.

What did we do?

The Civinc session took place as part of a webinar accessible for all G-STAR employees. After a keynote contribution from A.I. expert Ruben Horbach, G-STAR employees received a login code to enter the Civinc session. All participants gave their opinion on statements related to A.I., such as ‘I am excited about the potential of AI to transform our organization’ and ‘I am afraid of what AI will mean for my role’.

Upon responding to the statements, everyone was instantly matched in a chat conversation with an anonymous colleague that held a different view. Over 100+ colleagues simultaneously and safely exchanged thoughts, exchanging almost a thousand messages in 20 minutes.

What was the outcome?

The Civinc session allowed all participants to contribute to the conversation on A.I. in an equitable way, without bias, social desirability or group pressure. This is the recipe for authentic conversations, but also for valuable anonymous data insights.

After the session, we analysed all anonymous discussions 𝘢𝘣𝘰𝘶𝘵 𝘈.𝘐. 𝘸𝘪𝘵𝘩 𝘈.𝘐., so that we could map the ideas, arguments and concerns that occupy the minds of colleagues. These insights were captured in a data-report and helped shape G-STAR’s future proof A.I. strategy.
